Title: Head of Cards

VCFC is seeking a strategic and results-driven Head of Cards to lead the development, management, and expansion of our card products and services. This leadership role will oversee the card offerings, ensuring alignment with customer needs and market trends. The Head of Cards will be responsible for driving the growth and profitability of the card portfolio, managing cross-functional teams, and implementing innovative solutions to enhance the customer experience. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the payments industry, a deep understanding of card product development, and a proven track record of driving business growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute the strategic vision for the card products. Ensure alignment with the overall business objectives and customer needs.
- Lead the design, development, and launch of new card products and features, working closely with internal teams (technology, marketing, compliance) and external partners (issuers, processors).
- Analyse market trends, customer behaviour, and competitive landscape to identify opportunities for product innovation and portfolio growth.
- Oversee the day-to-day management of the card portfolio, ensuring product profitability, performance optimization, and customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate with teams across the organization, including risk management, operations, marketing, and customer service, to ensure seamless execution of card programs.
- Focus on improving the cardholder experience through product enhancements, rewards programs, and superior customer service offerings.
- Ensure card products adhere to relevant regulations, industry standards, and internal policies to mitigate risk and ensure compliance with the laws.
- Set and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for card products, including revenue, market share, customer acquisition, and retention. Take corrective actions as necessary to meet business goals.
- Manage relationships with third-party vendors, card networks (e.g., Visa, MasterCard), and partners to drive program success and enhance product offerings.
- Lead and mentor a team of product managers and professionals, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
Professional Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Marketing, or related field (Master’s degree or MBA preferred).
- At least 7-10 years of experience in the financial services industry, with a focus on card products, payments, or related areas. Minimum of 3-5 years in a leadership or management role.
- Strong knowledge of card products, payment systems, and the overall payments landscape.
- Expertise in card product development, lifecycle management, and optimization.
- Proven experience in managing and growing a card portfolio, with a focus on financial performance and customer satisfaction.
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to translate data into actionable insights.
- Experience with regulatory compliance and risk management in the payments industry.
- Proficiency in fintech innovations, including mobile payments and emerging payment technologies.
- Preferred but not required: Certified Payments Professional (CPP) or other relevant industry certifications.
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
