Spotlights, Reviews, News and Features

Despite the pandemic’s adverse effects, leading sportscar manufacturers are looking forward to welcoming customers back to showrooms this year.

Over the next 12 months, we anticipate a flock of exciting new releases including delayed models, sleek hybrid supercars, and ultra-luxurious limousines. The explosive trend of electric vehicles last year is expected to be a powerful driver of sales in the near future, especially with government’s worldwide setting targets to outlaw diesel and petrol vehicles.

Below we cherry-pick some of the most eagerly anticipated supercar releases this year.

Aston Martin Valhalla

The upcoming mid-engine hypercar was first revealed at the Geneva Motor Show. This exclusive model will be a favourite amongst collectors, as only 500 will be built and sold for an estimated £1m. You will find only the most elevated details within the carbon fibre interior, including a screen mounted on the steering column and a heart-rate monitor to display driver data.

Lotus Evija

Lotus boldly claims that their Evija model is the most powerful production car on the market and the first pure electric British hypercar. Built-in Norwich, this stylish two-seater model steps away from the conventional combustion engine completely and instead offers battery power equal to almost 2,000bhp. A limited number of just 130 cars at around £2m each are planned to be ready for the public this year.

McLaren Artura

The McLaren Artura has finally been unveiled after many months of speculation and excitement from well-wheeled fanatics worldwide. This new hybrid mid-motor hypercar will feature a turbocharged V6 assisted by electric motors for increasingly powerful performance. Its fresh new carbon fibre appearance adds to the charm, making it a strong competitor for the Ferrari F8 Tributo and Lamborghini Huracan Performante. This exclusive supercar is said to come for the hefty price of over £1m, but only a limited amounted will be released.

Mercedes-Benz AMG One

With its impeccable reputation in the world of Formula One, Mercedes is set to take on the same role on the road. The new One model has features exciting enough to feel like you are in Lewis Hamilton’s track car seat. Its 1086bhp engine can zoom up to 124mph in less than six seconds. The four electric motors increase power and explain its impressive acceleration power. Although there is no definite release date available yet, this new and exciting model is mooted for release this year with a £2.4m price tag and a lengthy waiting list.

Maserati MC20

The MC20 is the first of its kind; it is beautifully styled and extremely powerful. This impeccably Italian supercar design features butterfly doors and a sleek low roofline with a rear-facing camera. The car boasts a 3.0L V6 630HP Engine, allowing it to roar from 0-60mph in just 2.9 seconds. Looking into the future of emission-free travel, Maserati will be making an all-electric powertrain available in the future.

BMW iX

Although not scheduled for release until 2022, we’ve included this pick for lovers of family cars. BMW’s bold new all-electric SUV will be a flagship model and offering an extra 370+ miles over its electric car rivals. The iX’s new battery pack model is the key to its performance, producing the equivalent of 500bhp. With the market experiencing a non-wavering trend of SUVs, the German brand hit the nail on the head with the iX.

Mercedes S-Class

Taking ground-breaking steps, Mercedes joins an exclusive group of manufacturers entering the arena of the self-driving car. The ongoing considerations from various governments regarding autonomous car legislation in 2021 could witness the new Mercedes S-Class being a “hands-free” driving experience. Priced at around the £78k mark, this limousine features many high-tech functions including the Drive-Pilot self-driving function – all controlled by the huge touchscreen dashboard.

Volkswagen Buzz

The iconic Volkswagen Buzz pays homage to the most famous camper van of the 60s, but with an innovative twist. The micro-bus functions solely on electric power and features exciting functions such as hand gesture controls, auto-pilot functionality, and enough space to carry multiple surfboards on the roof. We expect this camper van inspired by the days of flower power to cost around £50,000 and be available by the end of this year.
