The Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO) is a global leadership community of extraordinary chief executives driven by the shared belief that the world needs better leaders. Founded in 1950 in Rochester, New York, today YPO boasts 29,000 global members across more than 130 countries representing a combined 22 million employees and USD 9 trillion revenue.
The first YPO meeting took place at the Waldorf Astoria New York in 1950. Attended by a small group of young local presidents who regularly shared and learned from one another, YPO’s founding principle is one of education and the exchange of ideas among peers.
YPO members comprise of extraordinary leaders who have achieved significant leadership success at an early age. YPO’s community is inclusive, welcoming a diversity of backgrounds, cultures, perspectives, ideas and expertise. To qualify for membership, an applicant must have become the president or chairman and CEO of a corporation of significance with a minimum revenue and a minimum number of employees. Candidates must also be typically recommended by two members of a local chapter and be approved by a membership committee of each local chapter.
