Kimpton De Witt, the hotly anticipated first European hotel from leading luxury boutique brand, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, has officially opened in the heart of Amsterdam.
Set within three original buildings from the Dutch Golden Age in the Palace Quarter neighbourhood, steps away from Amsterdam’s Central Station, Kimpton De Witt has 274 guest rooms, including 9 signature suites — many of which have impressive private terraces.
Within the hotel stands a three-storey ‘Little House,’ which dates back to the 1600s and was once the childhood home of Dutch playwright P.C. Hooft. Small groups can book the Little House for a private residential experience; it rocks two king-sized rooms and a first-floor living room – it is the ultimate party pad. The hotel’s signaturesuite, Penthouse De Witt, is split over two storeys and the 30-square metre roof terrace offers spectacular views of the bustling city and the iconic canal house rooftops.
Bedrooms are filled with fun interpretations of classic Dutch art, custom-made beautifully crafted desks, quirky Atelier Areti bird bedside lamps and Pols Potten porcelain gold-dipped parrot statues. Kimpton De Witt features many much-loved unique and personal touches with a local slant: guests can pedal away and explore the city on complimentary VanMoof bikes; or feel pampered with luxurious in-room goodies from Amsterdam-based natural skin care brand Marie-Stella-Maris (also available to purchase in the hotel’s pop-up shop).
Wyers Bar & Restaurant serves delicious American cuisine with a Dutch twist, courtesy of Executive Chef and native New Yorker, Sam DeMarco (a.k.a SammyD). Signature dishes include the Reuben Sandwich, Vitello Tonnato and a Kimchi Bacon Hot Dog, and the inventive cuisine celebrates seasonal produce from local suppliers and farmers. Featuring an extensive list of unusual and hyperlocal gins and genevers, House Bar is the go-to spot to enjoy a late-night drink in the most historic and original part of the building.
