Abu Dhabi is quickly catching up to its fellow Emirate Dubai in just about every respect. Because gastronomy is such a huge aspect of any trip to the UAE, the top five eateries in Abu Dhabi are worth a nod. Most upscale hotels have several restaurants on par with their settings, but there are also some great options farther afield.

Here is Insignia’s curated list of Abu Dhabi’s very best dining establishments:

Bord Eau

Located in the Shangri-La Hotel Qaryat Al Beri, Bord Eau offers a superb a la carte menu and daily specials. For the ultimate Bord Eau experience, the blind tasting menu is a must. Quiet instrumentals and a warm ambiance complement the rich gastronomy to create an intimate dining experience.

Koi is an imaginative restaurant with great ambience which serves mouth-watering dishes of Japanese cuisine prepared by Chef Daisuki. The cuisine is distinctly Japanese fusion perfect for modern palates. Located at the St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort.

Emporio Armani Caffé

Managing to be both ostentatious and understated, Giorgio Armani’s international collection of cafés and restaurants features Italian haute-cuisine every bit as stylish and tasteful as the celebrated designer’s fashion range.

Villa Toscana

This traditional Italian eatery serves hand-crafted, regional specialties from Tuscany, Umbria and Emilia-Romagna. Villa Toscana’s décor sensibility creates the feel of an Italian noble’s summer home.

Pearls & Caviar

This contemporary Mediterranean seafood restaurant offers patrons delectable dishes in a chic setting complemented by breath-taking views. Pearls Bar, located upstairs, is decorated with dazzling mosaics, white décor and offers live DJs over the weekends. Located in the Shangri-La Hotel.
